Clean and Disinfect Aquariums and Fishbowls

hydroghen peroxide clean disinfect aquariums fishbowls

Fish are very sensitive to chemicals even household soaps so it’s important to learn how to properly clean and maintain your tank. While routine aquarium cleaning should be done using only plain water, sometimes stubborn algae builds up and requires something a bit stronger. By adding an appropriate dose of [hp] to your fish tank, you can remove algae buildup, kill bacteria and fungi, and remove organic waste.

Simply follow these steps:

  1. 1

    Turn the filters off.

  2. 2

Calculate how much Hydrogen Peroxide 3% – Oxygen PlusTM you should use based on the volume of your tank, 1.5 ml (1/3 teaspoon) hydrogen peroxide per 4 litres of water.

  3. 3

Evenly spread the hydrogen peroxide 3% across the surface of the water.

  4. 4

Give the water a gentle stir with a clean utensil to help it disperse.

  5. 5

    Wait 1 hour.

  6. 6

    Turn the filters back on.

  7. 7

A few days later, change the water in your tank and add a bacteria supplement (a good bacteria) to the water, as hydrogen peroxide 3% will kill off both good and bad bacteria.
