Keeping Salad Fresh

Keep Salad Fresh

Bagged or boxed greens are a grocery list staple for a reason. They are extremely nutritious and can be used in a variety of dishes such as salads, smoothies, omelettes, and so much more. Most of us buy a bag or two on our weekly trip to the grocery store. But isn’t it frustrating when you buy a fresh bag of lettuce only to notice that it’s half-rotted only a couple of days later? Lettuce is notorious for slipping into a slimy, wilted state before you can even finish half the bag. So, what can you do? Do you give up your healthy habit or continue to throw away uneaten bags of lettuce? Thankfully, there’s a simple solution. Whether it’s crunchy romaine, peppery arugula, or leafy spinach, you can keep your greens fresh longer with [hp].

Simply follow these steps:

  1. 1

Combine 2 tablespoons of Hydrogen Peroxide 3% – Oxygen PlusTM with one cup of water in a spray bottle.

  2. 2

Spray the solution over your salad.

  3. 3

Cover and refrigerate your greens until ready to use.

Simply spraying your lettuce with hydrogen peroxide and water solution will allow them to last many days longer than usual. Using hydrogen peroxide on your greens also comes with the added benefit of killing any harmful microorganisms that might be lurking on your lettuce. It kills bacteria, viruses, mould spores, yeast, and fungi to help prevent the transmission of food-borne illnesses.

You might be wondering if this solution is safe to put on something you’ll be eating. The answer is a resounding yes! Chemically speaking, hydrogen peroxide (H202) is very similar in composition to water (H20)—the only difference is hydrogen peroxide has an extra molecule of oxygen. It’s completely non-toxic and doesn’t contain any chlorine, alcohols, acids, or other dangerous chemical additives. In fact, it biodegrades completely into just water and oxygen, making it completely safe for your whole family to use.
